about

We’ve been singing "The Blackest Crow" for nearly as long as we’ve been singing together. A traditional song from the Ozarks, Riley learned it many years ago from his dad, who learned it from a duo named Kim and Jim Lansford, who we think learned it from a woman named Fleecy Fox. And who knows where it came from before then.

While we love the direction this song took on our last record, we wanted to record a version how we do it live—just two voices and a banjo. We often end our live sets with this song and Time Is Everything, flowing from one into another. We’re happy to have these songs appear together on this new little release. ~ Viv & Riley

The record was produced by Alex Bingham of Hiss Golden Messenger. ... more
